River Euphrates Reveals Mountain of Gold
Sahih Muslim 2894a
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْقَارِيَّ - عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ” لاَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَحْسِرَ الْفُرَاتُ عَنْ جَبَلٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ يَقْتَتِلُ النَّاسُ عَلَيْهِ فَيُقْتَلُ مِنْ كُلِّ مِائَةٍ تِسْعَةٌ وَتِسْعُونَ وَيَقُولُ كُلُّ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ لَعَلِّي أَكُونُ أَنَا الَّذِي أَنْجُو ” .
Sahih Muslim 2894a
Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger صَلىَّ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ as saying: The Last Hour would not come before the Euphrates uncovers a mountain of gold, for which people would fight. Ninety-nine out of each one hundred would die but every man amongst them would say that perhaps he would be the one who would be saved (and thus possess this gold). (Sahih Muslim 2894a)

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger صَلىَّ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ as saying: The Last Hour would not come unless the Euphrates would uncover a treasure of gold, so he who finds it should not take anything out of that.
Sahih al-Bukhari 7119
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْكِنْدِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ، عَنْ خُبَيْبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، حَفْصِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ” يُوشِكُ الْفُرَاتُ أَنْ يَحْسِرَ عَنْ كَنْزٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، فَمَنْ حَضَرَهُ فَلاَ يَأْخُذْ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا ”. قَالَ عُقْبَةُ وَحَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِثْلَهُ إِلاَّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ” يَحْسِرُ عَنْ جَبَلٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ”.
Sahih al-Bukhari 7119
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Messenger صَلىَّ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ said, “Soon the river “Euphrates” will disclose the treasure (the mountain) of gold, so whoever will be present at that time should not take anything of it.” Al-A’raj narrated from Abii Huraira that the Prophet (ﷺ) said the same but he said, “It (Euphrates) will uncover a mountain of gold (under it). (Sahih al-Bukhari 7119)

Hafiz ibn Hajar رَحِمَهُ الله writes in his commentary of Sahih al Bukhari (Fathul Bari): “This hadith indicates that this will take place after the emergence of Imam Mahdi and that is before the descending of Isa عَلَيْهِ ا لسَّلَام and before the fire appears and Allah knows best”.
Ka’b said: “There will be around the Euphrates, near AshSham ( Syria or Damascus) or a little after it, a great assembly (of armies). They will fight each other over wealth, and seven out of every nine will be killed. And that will be after the Al-Hadda (blast) and the Al-Wahiya (catastrophe) in the month of Ramadan, and after the split resulting in three banners (battalions or armies), each (head of a battalion or army) will seek the kingship (or possession of the wealth or treasure) for himself, among them is a man whose name is ‘Abdullah.” (Nuaim ibn Hammad’s Kitab Al-Fitan)
Ka’b said: “After two tremors (minor earthquakes) occur in the month of Ramadan, three individuals from the same Household (family) spring forth (vying for kingship). One of them is vying for it by force, another one asking for it by piety, calmness, and dignity, and the third vying for it by killing and his name is Abdullah. There will be near the Euphrates river a great assembly for battle, where they will fight for the money (wealth or treasures). Seven out of every nine will be killed.” (Nuaim ibn Hammad’s Kitab Al-Fitan)
Abu Huraira said that the Messenger of Allah صَلىَّ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ said: ” The fourth Fitna (strife) is 18 years, then it clears. Once it clears, the Euphrates will recede revealing a mountain of gold that the Umma (Muslim nation) will fight for it. Seven out of every nine (people fighting for it) will be killed.” (Nuaim ibn Hammad’s Kitab Al-Fitan) Another variation of this Hadith also listed in Nuaim ibn Hammad’s book says that the Fitna remains for 12 years.
We can rely soley on Quran and Authentic Hadith as per undertsanding of Salafs; however just for the sake
of refernece and curiosity we are mentioning some references from scriptures of other religions.

We as Muslims call that war “al–malhama al-kubra”, to which our Christian brothers/sisters refer to as the Armageddon. Thus, we see that in both the Ahadith and the Bible, River Euphrates holds a great importance as a sign of the Last Hour.
After reading the mentioned verses of the Bible, we see that the drying of the river Euphrates is the set up for the kings that will be at the final battle. The verse 16 of chapter 16 of the Book of revelation, says: “They then assembled the kings in the place that is named Armageddon in Hebrew.” Armageddon in Hebrew means “Mountain of Megiddo” or “the valley of Megiddo.”
Drying of the River Euphrates will reveal a valley, & the name of that valley is “Megiddo”. What conclusion does this information make us reach? It’s a very simple conclusion:
The preparations to wrap up the jumbo circus called the “worldly life” are being made very swiftly.
There is something mentioned in the quoted verse of the Bible in the beginning of this article that is very interesting and opens up the doors to consider the prophecies in Ahadith. Let’s take a look at that verse again:
“The sixth angel emptied his bowl on the great river Euphrates. Its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings of the East….”
Although many claim that the hadith is unauthentic, yet we see many known scholars backing up it as an authentic hadith. The hadith is as follows:
“When you hear the news of Black Flags coming from the East, then, you must join them even if you have to crawl over ice (to reach them)”
